The Center is a counseling and social services facility located in the Beverly-Fairfax area of Los Angeles. The Center is available on a non-sectarian basis to seniors who live in the West Wilshire District of Los Angeles. Professional staff and para-professional volunteers service clients on a walk-in or referral basis, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Freda Mohr Multiservice Center for Seniors is sponsored by Jewish
Family Service of Los Angeles. The Center is funded by:
Classes and ActivitiesBallroom dancing, exercise, chess, bridge, entertainment and lively
discussion and friendship groups are among the many stimulating and
enriching activities available at the Center. Delicious and Healthy MealsCongregate Sites
Never dine alone anymore. Have the opportunity for companionship while
enjoying hot, delicious and nutritious lunches and dinners at one of the
Center's senior dining rooms. Seniors sixty years of age and older, their
spouses and caregivers, are cordially invited.
Each day fruits, vegetables, poultry, fish and other products are
delivered to ensure the highest quality and freshness of all foods. Home Delivered Meals We deliver nutritionally balanced meals to eligible homebound seniors.
A van service is available for seniors who have difficulty using public
transportation. Health ServicesAlzheimer's Counseling Care ManagementGeriatric professionals assess needs of frail clients, work with them and their families to develop appropriate plans and assist them in obtaining needed services and follow-up. Professional staff and para-professional volunteers work with clients
individually, as couples, in mixed-age group family therapy, and in
groups. Caregiver SupportThe Caregivers Support Group and counseling helps those who care for dependent loved ones handle their conflicting emotions and the demands on their time. Senior Outreach Services (S.O.S.) is a fee-for-service care management program for relatives in or out-of-town requesting help for their elderly family members. A geriatric professional thoroughly evaluates the senior's needs and helps the family establish a plan to meet those needs. Ongoing services can be provided with regular contact with the family regarding the older adult's well-being. Assisted Living Home Care - A+ PersonalAides are recruited and trained to provide companionship and light
housekeeping such as cooking and shopping for elderly employers.
Individuals requesting in-home services are matched with qualified aides
seeking paid employment. Advocacy and ResourcesVolunteers assist clients in working with Social Security, department of Public Social Services, and other government and private agencies. Using community-wide resources and a continually updated data bank, clients are directed towards the appropriate agency or service to assist them with their particular problems. Clients are helped to fill out forms, make appointments and write and
translate letters. TransportationHelp with rides for shopping, doctor's appointments and meals is
