Bet Tzedek provides free legal representation to those who cannot
otherwise afford counsel. In its 25 year history, Bet Tzedek has helped
more than 90,000 families and individuals who had nowhere else to turn.
Each year, assistance is provided to more than 10,000 people of every
racial and religious background at the Fairfax and West Hollywood offices
and at 30 senior centers throughout Los Angeles County.

Bet Tzedek does not handle criminal defense, immigration, divorce, or
cases private attorneys would accept on contingency. Legal assistance
includes counseling and representation at trials, administrative hearings
Eligibility for Services
The first priority for service is given to
persons in greatest economic need. Bet Tzedek must inquire
about income and resources. All information is kept strictly confidential.

Founded in 1974 as a one night a week volunteer-run storefront, Bet
Tzedek has grown to a vibrant poverty law center with a staff of 53 and
more than 400 volunteers.
Bet Tzedek's effectiveness in protecting access to justice for all
