Alzheimer's Day Care Center

The Center provides supervised daytime care for physically and mentally limited seniors, including those with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, who benefit from organized activity and socialization in a safe environment.

The challenges of Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of memory impairments can leave individuals and families bewildered by the large responsibilities they face. The Hollywood Senior Multipurpose Center established an adult day care program in 1984. Currently known as Adult Day Services, this program offers affordable respite and professional care in a friendly and safe environment.

The program accepts individuals with all forms of dementia or those who have been affected by stroke, Parkinson's disease, heart disease or developmental disabilities.

With an excellent ratio of 4 to 1, staff provide individualized, personal attention to the participants. The highly qualified, caring staff work under the direction of a professional geriatric social worker, activity specialist and program aides. Trained senior companions and student interns assist in client care and recreation in a respectful and nurturing manner.

Client benefits:

Verbal and functional abilities are maintained.
Nursing home placement can be delayed.
Friendships can develop.
Medical conditions caused by inactivity can be stabilized.
Regular outings offer clients a change of scene.
Clients are monitored on a regular basis by professional staff who can continue the assessment of the doctor's diagnosis.
A nutritious, hot midday meal and two snacks a day are provided on site and served in pleasant, welcoming surroundings. The meals are prepared under the direction of a licensed nutritionist.
The setting is specifically designed to minimize hazards and confusion for memory impaired individuals, offering clients the freedom to move about.

Transportation

The Hollywood Adult Day Support Center is conveniently located near major Los Angeles freeways and situated on a quiet street amidst other buildings of the Assistance League of Southern California.

Door-to-door transportation service
