Home Secure
Helping People Live Independently
MDT Member

If you are elderly, disabled or homebound with fixed or limited income, you may qualify for FREE home safety and security services from Home Secure.

Do you feel secure in your home?
Evaluate the safety of your home. Does your residence have these features?

Grab bars for support in the tub, shower and near the toilet

Nightlights in the bedroom and bathroom

Hand-held shower hose

Non-skid surface for bathtub and shower floor

Secure doors and windows, including a peephole in the front door.

What services are available?

Home Secure installs safety and security devices to assist people with disabilities on a fixed or limited income:


Grab bars provide support and prevent falls in the tub, shower or near the toilet.

"Thank you for installing grab bars at my residence. After spinal surgery, I didn't know how I was going to take showers. Now, I can hold onto the bars and I know I won't fall again." Klara, age 74.




Hand-held shower hoses for more comfortable bathing, particularly when a caregiver assists.

Door, window & patio locks to secure entry doors and windows.
" My mother has become frailer over the years. I was afraid she'd have an accident and no one would be there to help. I'm glad we found Home Secure. They installed grab bars and an adjustable shower chair. they also installed better locks on her doors and windows. Now, we feel confident about her ability to take care of herself. My mother is so happy to remain at home." Sam, age 49.

Home Secure, a non-sectarian program of Jewish Family Service, provides free safety modifications for renters and homeowners with limited income. This service enables people of all ages to live safely and comfortably in their homes for as long as possible.
JFS/Home Secure is funded by the cities of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Burbank, Culver City, Thousand Oaks and private donors.

Home Secure Income Limits

The maximum allowable income is:


One person    $30,500 / year


Two people   $34,900 / year
