Smarter Seniors Forums
Program coordinated by the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer affairs through a grant received from the Department of Community & Senior Services Adult Protective Services Spanish/Español

The Smarter Seniors Forums educate seniors on how to protect themselves from various marketplace abuses and protect their financial assets. Seniors, their friends, family and caregivers are invited to participate in this free event.

Supervisor Gloria Molina addresses seniors at the July 2003 Forum.

	Conservatorships From the Department of Mental Health Office of the Public Guardian
	Family, friend or caregiver abuses From the Department of Community & Senior Services Adult Protective Services
	Real estate issues, telemarketing and identity theft From the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs
	Charity scams, rip-offs and insurance fraud From the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department
	Insurance options From the California Department of Insurance
	Special property tax programs for seniors From the Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector

Panelists will provide educational materials and will be available for questions after the presentations. Additional education materials will be distributed by the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging - Community Outreach for Independent Living.
